There are a lot of different quests available to you in Final Fantasy 14. In this brief Final Fantasy 14 guide to questing, we will be covering the basics for all these types of quests so you know exactly what you are looking for.

The first types of quests you have access to are known as leves. These are basically repeatable quests which you can do every day. There are two types of these leves: regional and local. Local leves are only for crafting, also known as disciplines of the hand. You can do 8 of these every day and a half, so they are technically not really daily quests.

There are another type of leves called Regional Leves, and most Final Fantasy 14 guides will focus on these. After all, in FFXIV regional leves are the primary way that you get experience points as a discipline of war or magic class. The only thing is you can only do 8 of these leves per reset, no matter what the level is. The other thing you should know is that your leves get selected from a random pool, and you can only choose 3-4 from a single pool per reset.

As a result, you might not see the same leve every time you get a reset. This means that you will have like ten different quests you can pick from, and you probably won’t repeat quests more than once every few weeks.

Each time you complete one of these local leves you end up getting faction points. You can eventually exchange these faction points for the option to participate in Faction Leves. These still take up one of your quests and you can only do them once in awhile; it takes about 50 completed regional leves do to one of the top-level faction leves (which drop the best items).

Finally, you can participate a variety of random quests which you can pick up in any of the major cities like Ul’dah or Gridania. These missions can be picked up from NPCs which are marked on the mini-map by a white speech bubble with a black question mark in the center.
