John Cook School of Business

Fortune magazine has recently ranked St. Louis University as one of five schools for entrepreneurs. Fortune Magazine says SLU is “small but practical. There are no courses in venture capital because so few entrepreneurs get any, and every course is co-taught by a practicing entrepreneur.” Other contenders were Babson College, Indiana University, University of Texas, and Belmont University. Keynote Speaker Mike Michalowicz

On February 25, 2010, SLU CEO held its annual Business and Love event with over 175 people in attendance. This year, the chosen speaker was Mike Michalowicz, the Toilet Paper Entrepreneur. Mike has started three multi-million dollar business and written a bestselling book on entrepreneurism, The Toilet Paper Entrepreneur. He is currently speaking at eBay events across the country.

Mike shared his insights on his story on starting his first business. He explained his business approach which avoids loans and venture capitalists and instead builds on the business with capital over time.

At the end of the event, we gave away a 22 inch tv, a digital camera, and gift certificates to Humphreys.

2009 CEO Conference

From October 22 to 25, the St. Louis University chapter of CEO traveled to Chicago to attend the national CEO Conference. During the day students listened to some of the most successful business leaders from the United States and and other countries. In addition, students could attend numerous business oriented workshops of their choosing. One member, Morgan McRae, participated in the elevator pitch competition with his idea, Carvertising. After the conference was over, members spent the evening in downtown Chicago socializing and networking.
